Abstract
Clinical observation was performed of 587 cases of cholecystitis who admitted to Seoul Red loss Hospital for 5 years from Jan. 1, 1977 to Dec. 31, 1981, and the following results were obtained.
1) The total number of cholecystitis was 587, which was 1.53% of total admission cases during the same period..
2). The age incidence was the highest in 3rd decade (27.6%). The ratio of male and female was 1:1.25.
3) On admission, the most common clinical symptom was pain in the R. U.Q. (86.7%), the remainders were fever and chill (44.0%), nausea and vomiting(40.7%), janudice(29.1%), indigestion (27.6%), anorexia (26.1%), diarrhea (5.8%) in order of frequency..
4) The most common physical finding was tenderness on the R.U.Q. (76.8%), the remainders were muscle rigidity on the R.U.Q. (56.6%, jaundice (29.1%, hepatomegaly(24.4%), abdominal distention(16.4%), palpable mass (11.1%), palpable gall bladder(9.7%) in order of frequency.
5) Laboratory examination showed leukocytosis(68.8%, ¢¥elevated total serum bilirubin(37. 3%) elevated,serum alkaline phosphates(37.0%).
6) On the radiological examinations, the gallstones were present in 2.9% by plain abdomen, 9.8% -by oral cholecystogram, 11.4% by intravenous cholangiogram.
7) The 285 cases(85.8%) of the 332-¢¥cases were improved by the medical. conservative treatment. The 227 cases(89.0%) of the 255 cases were improved by the surgical treatment and the number of death were 6 cases (1.02%).
